Great cast and very typical "st.elmo's fire", light hearted movie.

about love... this flick deals with how we interpret signs in our life, how men and women think diffrently and thoughts about commitment, about getting to know a person, about finding true love. Obviously, some parts are funny and some will leave you teary-eyed but it was quite entertaining.

Ben affleck played it cool, as the guy who doesn't believe in marriage and Jennifer Aniston was the stuck up girl longing to be married to Ben bec. after 7yrs. they're still technically together but not married. One of the actors is played by newcomer Bradley Cooper who's also in the fave sitcom Kitchen Confidential by the famous chef/writer Anthony Bourdain,he played quite a hideous role, he's married to jennifer connelly- who's an O.compulsive freak, He isn't happy about his marriage, he feels suffocated and somehow is attracted to this other girl played by Scarlett johansson as the young chick who likes married men and likes to play around, toying guys she wants and rejects, who is friends with drew barrymore, although she played small parts in this film, she was one of the producers and his ex-boy friend played the part as the guy who owns the Bar,( don't know his name),also, jennifer connelly- who thinks everything is in order with her life but soon realizes that marriage with Bradley seems to be falling apart, as he's cheating withe another woman. Then the newbie ms. Ginnifer goodwin...who is the narrator of this movie.. i have to rewind the last part of the movie bec. i'm not familiar with her name though i've seen her in other flicks before.

the music- ost of the film were catchy from my favorite - keane- somewhere only we know...

My Blueberry Nights

~i've seen Chungking Express and 2046. I think wong kar wai is very imaginative and artistic no doubt about it, but sometimes he tends to be too dramatic,dragging for too much creativity making the real plot of the story boring and flat. This film on some parts are just the same with Chungking express, the storyline with a girl and a guy meeting in a bar/resto, the express train line going back and forward, the narrator, the same music played over and over again...

Wong kar wai... he likes to play with his lenses, up close and zooming out...his colors are so vivid that you'd remember the colors blue, violet, red. It's also like 2046, he had this certain redundant scenes where it keeps reapeating over and over again.

if not for Jude Law or Natalie portman for that matter, Norah jones, well, she is a jazz singer not an actress, that's for sure...i would not like movie at all, i have to forward it on my dvd player... such a waste bec. this could be a romantic movie,it kinda leaves you hanging.

Notting Hill

~ can't believe how time flies so fast! seems like yesterday, i was just watchin this flick and now, it was part of a history...

well, the perfect mixture of romance, comedy, light warm hearted rolled into one and the soundtrack with ronan keating's -when you say nothing at all ( altough i preferred Ms alison krauss' rendition better)- was romantic and all of it , i should say was amazing...

you got the best comedic actress of all time- Ms. Julia Roberts and the rest is history... hugh grant of course is himself, still the stuttering cute english guy who owns a quaint travel bookshop down notting hill, where he lives in this quite attractive blue door... stricking a friendship one day with the famous american actress played by julia. i mean, this cup of film is so exactly the same with Four weddings and a funeral... it's like deja vu! :)

you can also get a glimpse of misha barton- (starred in the famous tv series the o.c) while she was still a kiddo.

he's one of my favorite actors to date, despite bad rumors about him, the break up with E. Hurley. for me, he has this cute disposition and utterly interesting stammering english accent... so, here's a glimpse of some of the films he's done...

we'll start the latest which was with Drew Barrymore in

" Music n Lyrics "

verdict: 7/10

~probably one of the most funniest, romantic love story of that year.

beautiful soundtrack- "way back into love" , "pop goes my heart" and hugh grants' own rendition... " don't write me off".

nice setting and of course there's Drew Barrymore in it!

even though, hugh grant in this movie, seems kinda old already, i mean, you could see the saggy lines in his face already .He played the part of an old-outdated singer who used to be popular in the 70's but now,nobody listens to his songs anymore. Then came drew barrymore, she played the part of a substitute cleaning lady, cleaning hugh grants' house and one day, he stumbled upon how talented drew can be when she hums and sings, also, drew's sister is just so gaga crazy over hugh, the ultimate pop idol... so, at first drew declined hugh's offer for both of them to create a song, but eventually, they did. drew being the lyricist and hugh making out the tune. Chemistry eventually started to spark as they talked and understand each other better... hugh helped drew overcome her weak self-esteem when she was dumped by her previous boyfriend who is a famous writer, some hilarious scenes followed, but along the way, comes his popularity and the pressure to be known again by the public, therefore, hindering both of them, because drew thought that hugh was just using her for his success.

~haven't been postin much for a quite a while now, been busy and too lazy with stuffs i needed to manage... anyway, i'll try to give updates whenever i have the time...:-)

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE -2009

won oscar award for Best Picture...Best Original score...

Before oscar hailed this movie to be this year's best picture. I was already curious to watch this flick but really didn't have the time, and when i finally did...it never dissapointed me.

I myself must admit that i love watching indian flicks, bollywoodish kind of genre, so this movie was definitely interesting for me. What attracted me the most were not the actors who played in this movie, rather, it was how the director draws us inside the culture and the history that is India. Inspired by a book called Q & A. It is a fast pace movie, not the slow ones where it gets boring in the middle...He showed us what the real India is, the good and the bad side of it. It begins with questions seem unanswered but it ends with a triumphant hope. A typical bollywood as some might say, but certainly of a different twist. I won't spare you much of the details... you just have to watch this movie to appreciate life and how poverty can be powerful in times of despair and loss. Ost- was also very nice, been listening it for a while, my favorite track would be- MIA.

In my opinion: There's this enigma why i love Jane Austen eventhough, i haven't read even one of her books from start to finish. I always find it hard to read and most of the time, i find it tedious, boring, too garrish and too detail of that sort. Mais, au contraire... J'aime les film being portrayed on screen.

1: Pride and Prejudice- this is an Austen classic love story. i mean the story has a happy ending and indeed very romantic. I've watched it for over a.... times already. Back then, life was simple. The women only busy themselves by looking good and finding his prince charming,thus, getting married. They have to be musically incline, they have to know more than one language, they have to act all prima donna-esque.

The musical score was excellent. Life lessons on prejudice-not judging a book, pride-being humble and learning from your mistakes.

pps!~ There's also this bollywood musical movie called Bride and Prejudice. Starring the sensational Ms.Aishwarya Rai.

2: Emma- portrayed by Gwyneth Paltrow. She's a bit of a wallflower in this film but i like her cute character trying to be the matchmaker. This is film is very entertaining, very light. It's like whilst you were sipping a cup of tea... you don't need to be in a hurry, you just have to appreciate this fairy-tale like movie.

3: Sense and Sensibility- i find it too heavy at first and i don't like Kate Winslets' role. Who is just so damn naive about life and love...

but, since Hugh Grant was so charming in his oh so stuttering scenes...and of course this was Ang lee's film... i just had to appreciate how talented he is, with the costume and the setting and even the actors he chose. I think this film was nominated for Best picture (Oscar), i forgot if it won anything or not but this definitely open new doors for director Ang lee.

4: Mansfield Park - the film was ok. For starters i don't like the leading lady. i find her too old for her part. Like any Jane Austens' book... this is about betrayal, jealousy, falling in and out of love, youth and maturity. I think in the end she decided to live a life on her own thus finding her freedom.

Verdict: 6.5 /10 Girl with a Pearl Earring directed by: Peter Webber based on a book by: Tracy Chevalier In my opinion: I think the story started a little slow and a little dragging for me. I like Scarlett Johansson better in the movie Lost in Translation. I think her role here was too stiff bec. she has to portray this all to innocent and demure lady. I also had trouble with her accent, didn't sound too realistic. But i like Colin Firth's portrayal as Vermeer ( the painter ). I also like the attention to detail of this film, like the scene where Vermeer is going to paint the girl, he has to adjust the lighting, how he seduces this Girl to be her inspiration for the painting, how Vermeer's wife got jealous and accuses her of stealing the pearls.How lighting plays an important role for every scene that was captured,the silence and the enigma of this drama even without talking to each other, you can see the intimacy between the painter and that of the girl.The costumes unveiled the rich colors of golden yellow and royal blue. The setting was similar to what was described in the book. I think a few scenes may have been omitted. Definitely, the book was better than the film,. Tracy Chevalier writes in a way that makes you feel like you were part of that era,but overall, the movie wasn't bad.
