`~Paris, Je T'aime~`
year : 2007
verdict: 9/10
~On parle d'amour... each story defines a different look and aspect about . they are all short stories... some you will find amusing, others, will make you teary-eyed...some are just plain weird like you just don't understand what they're trying to portray.
each story happens on different streets- dans la rue. Among those that are interesting, -the 1st one, it talks about a typical day, getting a parking space amidst the busy streets of paris, then meeting someone out of the blue...
-the cohen brothers' story, this is funny, a tourist, while he sits around the corner waiting for a ride, he starts to read this travel book- the do's and don'ts of Paris, how you can catch a deadly disease if you kissed somebody you don't know, how you mustn't stare at all cost if couples are fighting... then,he stumbled upon this young couple having a chaotic fight to attract his attention, what he doesn't realize is that he was already being robbed.
- another scene, this muslim girl met this young parisian guy, although both are bound by diff. religion and beliefs, the sparks are right there for them to get to know each other.
- but one story that captivated me the most was the african inspired story of this man trying his luck in paris, making ends meet, he was mesmerize by this girl he met in the parking garage while he was working as a janitor ( i think), one day, while walking on the park, he became a victim of a restless gang, trying to make fun of other people, one of the deranged gang member tried to stabbed him, just like that... to the rescue, was this girl he met once a upon a time, bec. she was a medical nurse of some sort, she was on the scene trying to save his life, the sad thing was, he asked if he could have coffee with her sometime, but it was too late bec. he was bleeding profusely, finally, he died into her arms. so sad...
i also loved the theme song of this film- sang by- Feist- "La Meme Histoire".

~Just a few months before the attack in Mumbai, comes this movie about terrorism.very ironic it seems but anywasy... This is a story about a "common" man (this guy starred in monsoon wedding) who wanted to make a difference in his country. It's a whole new level of twists and turn which at first may seem too predictable once you started watching it. It entertains you with humor and suspense. It was very captivating and intriguing, because we as viewers all thought that this common man was a terrorist, only to found out in the ending that he was not and then we know what his real reason was... Although some parts of the scene were boring and a little dragging for me. They can be as well deleted in the story. But i think overall it was not that bad not like most indian movies where there has to be punjabi dancing or singing involved. A must see for people who likes watching indian flicks.

~haven't been postin much for a quite a while now, been busy and too lazy with stuffs i needed to manage... anyway, i'll try to give updates whenever i have the time...:-)
SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE -2009
director: Danny Boyle ( also the directed Trainspotting)
won oscar award for Best Picture...Best Original score...
Before oscar hailed this movie to be this year's best picture. I was already curious to watch this flick but really didn't have the time, and when i finally did...it never dissapointed me.
I myself must admit that i love watching indian flicks, bollywoodish kind of genre, so this movie was definitely interesting for me. What attracted me the most were not the actors who played in this movie, rather, it was how the director draws us inside the culture and the history that is India. Inspired by a book called Q & A. It is a fast pace movie, not the slow ones where it gets boring in the middle...He showed us what the real India is, the good and the bad side of it. It begins with questions seem unanswered but it ends with a triumphant hope. A typical bollywood as some might say, but certainly of a different twist. I won't spare you much of the details... you just have to watch this movie to appreciate life and how poverty can be powerful in times of despair and loss. Ost- was also very nice, been listening it for a while, my favorite track would be- MIA.
same genre:
+moonsoon wedding - the soundtracks in this movie are great, composed by mychael danna.
Verdict: 8.5/10 The Kite Runner Year: 2008 directed by: Marc Forster based on a book by: Khaled Hosseini In my opinion: I am a fan of this author. I think his novel's one of the best i've read so far, so when i heard that a movie was coming out. I can't wait to watch and relate it with the book and true to its story, It didn't disappoint me. "There's a chance to be good again" so does the line goes...A story about 2 boys living in Kabul, Afganistan. One is called Amir - a well to do boy, a pashtun, a boy who has everything except that of his father's love. The other one is called Hassan- a hairlip boy,the house boy of amir but a loyal friend,a very talented kid who loves to kite, but was shun from the society bec. he's a Hazara ( a commoner),he was badly molested and raped by Assef who was a bully at their village and later in the story will also become a Taliban. As their country was slowly being captured and brain-washed by the Talibans, so was their test of friendship slowly deteriorating. Because of hatred, jealousy and yearning for his dad's love and acceptance. Amir made up a lie that will change both their fate. A lie that he had to live with all his life, a life of grief and guilt. A realization that came too late maybe? or maybe not? ... Amir has to a make a decision between what's right and wrong. This is a story that will move your heart. It's about how love and hatred, happiness and sadness, despair and hope.It will make you cry, it will touch you in every aspect you can imagine. Normally, i don't like watching this kind of genre, like Finding Neverland ( also from the same director) but this one, definitely very inspiring. I recommend reading the novel 1st before watching it to get a better grasp of the story. " For you a thousand times over"... (Persian: کاغذ‌پران باز - Kāğazparān Bāz)
